Standing ovations abound!

After a successful run at the NAF in Grahamstown and township tour, Abangabonwa was invited to performance at the Cape Twon Fringe Festival 2017.  And we won a FRESH Creative Award for choreography - yay!!

Our outreach programme has grown to over 150 children and youth who are taught classes during the week at the Black Box Theatre in Delft and on Saturdays at UCT (Hiddingh Campus).  We are extremely grateful to UCT for stepping up and providing us with a home for our Saturday outreach classes.

2018 has been busy so far!  There have been 2 full length productions created this year.  The first was a collaboration with The Playhouse company called Ukuzinza.  Four of our dancers and our Artistic Director produced an amazing show which performed to full houses and gained standing ovations.

Standing ovations were also the order of the day for our production called Amaqhawe, which was performed at the NAF 2018 main festival programme in Grahamstown.  Congratulations go out to our wonderful dancers and to Mzo Gasa (Artistic Director), for producing unique African productions of outstanding quality.  Our strength is in our ability to tell stories in our own unique African contemporary dance language and we are shining this year!
